First leg of the journey. Sitting on an Amtrak pointing north, but haven’t moved yet and we’ve been on the train for an hour due to a fender bender on the tracks just ahead. Glad we allowed an extra day to get to the ship.
Sat at Alexandria station for 45 minutes as a passenger was escorted off the train after being forced to leave the restroom for being in there for 30 minutes and appeared to be in a drug induced stupor. The authorities questioned him and we never saw him again. Will we ever get to New York?
Got into Penn Station around 7:35pm. Took an Uber to the hotel and out to eat. Staying at LaQuinta in Brooklyn.
Spent most of the day and 7 miles walking around and exploring Brooklyn. We ate at a couple of friendly local eateries, but mostly just appreciated Murphy, NC. All in all, it was a nice day and the weather was very accommodating.
Packed up and ready to head to the docks. We’ll miss our room’s exquisite view of Brooklyn.
